History

Saint Andrews Scots School

In 1838, St. Andrew’s Scots School was established by a group of Scottish settlers determined to educate their children in their language, faith and culture. Originally founded as a boys school, Saint Andrews would become co-educational soon after.

El Club de Ex-Alumnos San Andrés

In 1911, Club San Andrés was founded, as a social and sporting club for students, alumni and friends of the school. The first activities practised at the club were rugby union, field hockey, swimming, football and sailing.

Thanks to its Scottish heritage, Club San Andrés has the particularity of being one of the few clubs in South America to own their own Tartan.

Rugby

Rugby was one of the original sports played at the club when it was founded in 1911. From humble beginnings, San Andrés is now playing at the top level of the Unión de Rugby de Buenos Aires league system, fielding teams at all levels.

Having only recently won promotion to the Torneo de la URBA, Buenos Aires first division in 2009, the club has as yet to win the URBA title or the Nacional de Clubes.
